Legal webinars and CPD training for 2017

In March the Australian Copyright Council will host three webinars for legal practitioners to update their copyright knowledge. The webinars are designed to help you top up your CPD points*. 

What: Hot Topics
When
: 12:30pm, March 8, 2017

 The webinar will run for 60 minutes and will cover:  

  • proposed amendments to the Copyright Act;
  • implications of the recent site-blocking cases under section 115A; and
  • 'where to' from the Productivity Commission report.


The seminar will also summarise some of the major happenings overseas. For those needing the latest in copyright, this seminar is essential.

Managing copyright risk in your legal practice

The webinar will run for 60 minutes and will cover:  ​

  • copyright in your precedents and publications;
  • using copyright exceptions for professional legal advice;
  • accessing, sharing, and using third party content.

For lawyers seeking to understand this specialised area of law in a practical sense in their day to day work, this seminar is essential. 

 

What: Social Media for Lawyers

: 12:30pm, March 22, 2017

The webinar will run for 60 minutes and will cover: 

  • Social media terms and conditions
  • Linking and sharing third party material
  • User-generated content
  • Managing infringement online
  • What's happening overseas

In this session, we take a close look at copyright issues relevant to legal practitioners to work out what your rights and responsibilities are online, essential for knowing how to avoid potential legal and reputational consequences when things go wrong.
