| Can I copy customers’ CDs to their portable music players? | Copying musical recordings, without the licence of all copyright owners, will usually infringe copyright unless one of the special exceptions in the Copyright Act applies. There is a special exception that allows the owner of a CD to make a copy of the CD to play on a device owned by that person (such as an iPod, a computer, or a car CD player). The exception does not apply, however, to copying done for someone else. |
