Examples of copying & communicating a recorded program for educational purposes

A participating institution can copy and communicate a recorded program for educational purposes.

Examples of making copies of a recorded program for educational purposes

  • a compilation of excerpts of recorded programs for class use
  • inclusion of excerpts of recorded programs in a multimedia presentation for a class
  • additional copies of a recorded program for use in other classes
  • including in the institution's library
  • giving or lending to students to watch at home in connection with a course.

Examples of communicating a recorded program for educational purposes

  • email excerpts of a recorded program to students for a course
  • posting material copied from TV or radio to an electronic reserve hosted – for example, in the institution’s library or IT department
  • narrowcasting material copied from radio or TV to students via a scrambled signal
  • cabling material copied under the scheme to students or to classrooms via a secure cable service
  • providing students and staff with online access to material copied from TV or radio via a secure Internet site
  • making material copied under the scheme available on a computer terminal to be accessed on the premises
