Using copyright material for professional advice

This information is for general guidance only; it is not legal advice.

Because of special exceptions in the Copyright Act (sections 43 and 104), you can use copyright material to seek professional advice from a lawyer, patent attorney or trade marks attorney. In some cases, the use must be "fair".

These sections also allow use of copyright material for the purpose of a legal proceeding.
