Photographs and other two-dimensional reproductions of buildings & public art

First read:

Because of special exceptions in the Copyright Act (sections 65 and 66), you can reproduce a copyright work that is a:
  • sculpture or a work of artistic craftsmanship on public display “other than temporarily”, or
  • a building,
  • a model of a building
in a:
  • two-dimensional image (e.g. a photograph, painting or drawing),
  • a film, or
  • a broadcast.
These exceptions do not apply to:
  • artistic works that are not sculptures or works of artistic craftsmanship, or
  • to works on temporary public display.
You can publish an image or film made under these special exceptions (section 68).
