Copyright collecting societies are non-profit organisations which license or administer certain uses of copyright material on behalf of their members and members of affiliated overseas societies.

Licences offered by collecting societies can be referred to the Copyright Tribunal for determination of terms and conditions, including fees.

Most of the collecting societies adhere to the Collecting Societies Code of Conduct, which is periodically reviewed by a Code Reviewer (currently a former Federal Court judge).
