New Australian Attorney-General, the Hon Mark Dreyfus QC MP

The Hon Mark Dreyfus QC, MP will be sworn in this morning as Australia’s 35th Attorney-General.
Mr Dreyfus has been a Member of Parliament since 2007. During that time, he has chaired the House of Representatives Staining Committee for Legal And Constitutional Affairs. Most recently he has served as Cabinet Secretary, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency and Parliamentary Secretary for Industry and Innovation (including responsibility for IP Australia). Prior to that, Mr Dreyfus was a leading member of the Victorian Bar.
In 2012, Mr Dreyfus launched a report on the Economic Contribution of Australia’s Copyright Industries commissioned by the Australian Copyright Council. At the launch, Mr Dreyfus, reflected on his experience growing up as the son of a composer (George Dreyfus). A copy of Mr Dreyfus’ speech is available here.
