Review of cap on broadcast fees announced

by admin last modified 2008-06-11 12:12
In February 2005, the Attorney-General's Department has released a discussion paper on whether or not the current cap on the licence fees payable by radio broadcasters to owners of copyright in sound recordings should be removed.

The current cap is set at one percent of the relevant broadcaster's gross annual earnings, and restricts the orders which may be made by the Copyright Tribunal when setting the licence fees payable by radio broadcasters: section 152(8) of the Copyright Act.
