by admin last modified 2009-04-22 02:29

January 2008

The Code of Conduct of the Collecting Societies is currently being reviewed. The Code outlines the practices which the collecting societies have agreed to follow. These practices include reporting to members, involvement in copyright education and awareness initiatives, and complaints handling.

The Code is observed by APRA, AMCOS, PPCA, CAL, Screenrights, Viscopy, AWGACS (Australian Writers’ Guild Authorship Collecting Society Limited) and ASDACS (Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society Limited).

Submissions on the operation of the Code and/or suggested amendments to the Code will be considered by the Code Reviewer, the Hon J C S Burchett QC.

The Code Reviewer will be hearing oral submissions from members of the societies, their licensees and the general public on 4 February 2008. Expressions of interest in making an oral submission had to be received by the Code Reviewer in writing, with a submission outline, before 28 January 2008.

Written submissions can be made to the Code Reviewer on or before 29 February 2008.
