Private member’s bill on resale right for artists to be introduced
The Hon Bob McMullan announced on 28 February 2006 he would introduce a private member’s bill into Parliament that would grant artists an entitlement to a share of the resale price each time their art is resold. A similar bill was introduced last year by Senator Kate Lundy, but it was not debated in Parliament. The Government is currently considering recommendations in favour of the introduction of the resale right in the 2002 Report on Contemporary Visual Arts and Crafts (Myer Report).
