Australian to be new head of World Intellectual Property Organization

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has announced that Francis Gurry, an Australian, will be its new Director-General from 1 October 2008. Mr Gurry has worked with WIPO, in a number of capacities, since 1985. Before that, he practised law and held a number of academic positions.
