Lucinda Jones

Lucinda Jones, a national of Australia, is a senior legal officer in the Copyright, E-Commerce, Technology and Management Division, within the Copyright and Related Rights Sector at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva.

Among other tasks, Ms. Jones has contributed to the first and second WIPO Internet Domain Name Processes, which led to ICANN’s adoption of the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), and to work on WIPO’s Digital Agenda.  She holds a Bachelor of Law degree (Honors) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sydney, Australia, and a Masters in International Law degree (Honors) from the University of Cambridge, England.  She also holds a Diploma in Speech and Communication from the Australian Speech and Communication Association.

Following law school, Ms. Jones was an Associate for The Honorable Justice Daryl Davies in the Federal Court of Australia, and an Associate to Judge Macdonald of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.  Before joining WIPO in 1998, she practiced as an attorney with the Office of Legal Affairs of the United Nations Headquarters in New York.  In Australia, she practiced as an attorney with the Legal Office of the Commonwealth Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and co-wrote a Report on Designs Law for the Australian Law Reform Commission.
