Ian Oi
ISenior Legal Counsel, Accenture Australia
Ian Oi has practiced in the areas of information technology, intellectual property, and media and communications law since 1994. Immediately prior to joining Accenture as Senior Legal Counsel at the beginning of 2007, he was a partner at a national law firm. He was previously a special counsel at another national law firm for several years.
Ian is a past winner of the GC O'Donnell essay prize, for his work on US copyright in Australian cyberspace. From 2002 to 2005, Ian was a co-lead for the Creative Commons project in Australia.
Ian received Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Western Australia. In 2000-2001, he also studied for the Master of Laws in Intellectual Property (all but thesis submitted) at the George Washington University, Washington DC, where he was awarded the Law School prize for best intellectual property writing, on comparative moral rights law and the US accession to the Berne Convention.
