Patricia Adjei

Patricia Adjei is of Ghanaian and Torres Strait islander descent, having grown up in Sydney. Patricia graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) and a Bachelor of Law with a passion for human rights law. Patricia worked at the Department of Employment and Workplace from 2004 until 2006 as a policy and then legal officer in various sections of the Department. Patricia worked as the Indigenous solicitor in the Artists in the Black Program at the Arts Law Centre of Australia for over 2 years. Patricia was fortunate enough to present at the Intergovernmental Committee on Traditional knowledge, cultural expressions and genetic resources at the World Intellectual Property organisation in 2007 as a non-government representative. Patricia now works as an inhouse lawyer at the National Indigenous television station which provides a 24 hour television service showcasing the best Indigenous content across Australia. Patricia is very passionate about Indigenous cultural intellectual property and continues to advocate for better protection of Indigenous cultural heritage and knowledge.
