Who this training is for
If you work in a public, community, corporate, local council or other non-profit library or archive, this training is for you.
If you work in a library in an educational institution, our training sessions for educational institutions will be more helpful.
If you work in a library in a Commonwealth, State or Territory government department or agency, our training sessions for governments will be more helpful.
The program (Wednesday)
S06*07 Introduction to copyright
10:00am to 11:00am ($70)
This session is for people attending
later sessions who are new to copyright or want to refresh their knowledge of
general copyright principles. The session covers issues such as what is
protected by copyright and when permission is needed, to provide a context for
other sessions dealing with specific applications of copyright law. It is not
intended to be a standalone session.
S06*08 Libraries: copying for your clients
11:30am to 1:00pm ($90)
- copying for library clients
- copying under the CAL licences
- online and email delivery of copies
- inter-library supply
- use of warning notices
- tips for copyright compliance
This session may also be of interest to people working in museums, galleries and archives who assist researchers and students.
S06*09 Libraries: the internet & your clients
2:00pm to 3:00pm ($80)
- downloading from the internet
- providing links to internet websites
- managing clients’ use of the internet
- compliance tips
This session may also be of interest to people working in museums, galleries and archives who assist researchers and students.
S06*10 Collecting institutions: copyright and your collection
3:30pm to 5:00pm ($90)- digitising your collection
- online display of material
- copying for preservation
- dealing with Indigenous material
- acquisition policies, dealing with donors
- risk management and compliance tips
Refreshments
We provide light refreshments between sessions, but not lunch.

If you individually attend four training sessions and give us a completed feedback form, we'll send you one of our books for free (title of your choice). We'll send your book as soon as we've received your feedback form and payment for the training.
Bookings & cancellations
Bookings: Please book as early as possible so we can confirm your place and advise you of any changes to advertised details.
Cancellations & refunds: We refund 100% of the fee if
you cancel 4 or more working days before the training session, and 50% if you
cancel 1 to 3 working days before (but not if you cancel on the day).
Non-attendance: If you register for a training session but
do not attend, we may invoice you for the fee unless you cancel 4 or more
working days before the training session.
