Who this training is for

This is a practical session for people who  need to clear rights to use copyright material. The session is for people who have some understanding of copyright principles – for example they have attended our Copyright Essentials training session or have read our Copyright Essentials book.

What's covered in the session

NEW COURSE

Getting copyright permissions and clearances can seem like an arduous task. It doesn’t have to be. This practical session will make it easier for you to work out if you need permission at all and, if so, how to go about it. Topics include:

  • when you don’t need permission
  • practical tips for finding copyright owners
  • what to ask for
  • tips on working out how much to pay (but there are no definitive answers!)
  • what happens when you can’t get permission
  • using orphan works
  • moral rights obligations
  • managing your risk of infringement
