This 90 minute session is a comprehensive overview of Australian copyright law specifically for educators. In this session, we will cover all the essentials including; what copyright protect and how, how long copyright last, copyright ownership and licensing, general and education-specific copyright exceptions, copyright infringement and managing risk, moral rights and moral rights infringement.This session will also take you through amendments made to the Copyright Act in recent years, and how they affect educators.

This 90 minute session will take educators through the key licensing arrangements for educational institutions as well as technology-related issues in the classroom. Prior attendance at Copyright Essentials for Educators is strongly recommended. Topics covered include; the dos and don’ts of using material under the Copyright Agency and Screenrights statutory licences, the key licences from APRA AMCOS and PPCA, Roadshow, Hal Leonard, etc. for music, film, theatre, and other campus activities, online classrooms, websites, and social media: how to safely source and use content, practical tips for copyright risk management online and offline
